ABOUT

NATALIE MCGUIRE

  1. I used to think the lyrics to Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" was "Hold me closer, Tony Danza."

  2. I am. A HUGE. Twin Peaks fan. Like, I wear an eye patch on a semi-regular basis.

  3. Recently, I (badly!) burned my elbow while making toast.

  4. My six-word memoir would be: “Well I thought it was funny...”

  5. My favorite quote: “Good times, noodle salad.” (As Good As It Gets)

My Background

A renegade idealist from a young age, I graduated from Portland State University’s Graphic Design program and have been a professional designer since 2005. I’ve built my design cred over the years on the backs of Northwest Natural Products, Fresh Cup Magazine, Rains | Birchard Marketing and countless small businesses and non-profit organizations. My work runs the gamut of concept-driven magazine spreads to results-oriented website designs. I have a passion for geeking out on all things SEO and I love developing unique marketing solutions for small, creative, local businesses and entrepreneurs who need that one-of-a-kind design that separates them from their pack of competitors.

My Design Philosophy

My personal motto is simple: What’s the point of having a beautiful, heart-stopping website if no one can find you online? Or worse: What if people can find you online but your website is so out-of-date, so un-user-friendly, that no one actually converts to being one of your customers? Well? I can help with that. Thoughtful design is more than just a pretty picture. It’s a converting a User into a customer.

I understand that graphic/web design, SEO, content marketing, social media and user experience are all inextricably linked. Through a series of insightful questions and lots and lots of listening, I do my best to get down to the nitty-gritty of who your business is, who it wants to be, and what it struggles with. Then, and only then, can design deliver a concrete solution to get your business the results it deserves. Bonus? You’ll also have a gorgeous, lush and modern logo/web site design/brochure/social skin/whatever-your-heart-desires to boot.

When I’m Not Designing

In my spare time, I cuddle with my dog Roxie, speculate on when Season 3 of Twin Peaks will be picked up (I’m looking at YOU, David Lynch!) and conspire about my next Vine video. I can also be found digging through others’ garbage cans in order to rescue recyclables, and can turn 12 shades of red when sunburned. I enjoy eating an embarrassing amount of ice cream, dressing up as Rainbow Brite and tallying up the days that I remain band-aid free.

I currently reside in lovely Northeast Portland, Oregon. Also, I am a delight.
