Go from freelance designer amateur hour
to big boss (wo)man by building a better design business
for you and your clients.

(But c’mon. Mostly for you and your sanity.)

You’ve already got killer design skills, but consistently bringing in more prospects, managing clients from hell and getting caught in sticky project situations can put you in a downward spiral of sleepless nights, stress-eating, and hair-pulling out. Throw in managing your design business, balancing projects, and mastering your design process & workflow? It’s enough to make you want to dangle from the nearest ledge.

(Or, at the very least feeling a bit punch-y.)

That whole reason you got into this field?)

Through a series of insightful collaborative conversations,
I’ll help you gain confidence as you forge your own path through the design and entrepreneurial world.

We’ll discover ways you can manage the clients you have, navigate and streamline your design process, and position your business so you get more of the kind of clients you crave knocking at your door.

(Or rather, filling out your contact form.)

Here’s just a few ideas of what
our sessions together could include:

Branding & Website
Review:

Together, we’ll look at your branding and positioning in the market, and I’ll offer insights about the types of portfolio pieces to include, service packages you’re offering, and how you can increase your conversion rates to get more clients filling out your contact form.

Business
& Design
Process:

How to breakdown and streamline your design process so you’ll have less revisions from your clients, faster turnaround times, keep projects on-scope, and stay organized while leaving your clients feeling confident they hired a pro to handle their project. Micromanagement begone!

Client
Management &
Communication:

From attracting more, high-paying clients, to navigating sticky client conversations, to setting appropriate expectations and boundaries, I’ll show you how to not get treated like a doormat, keep your clients on track so their project gets finished, and implement strategies on ways to keep you and your clients happy.

Howdy!
I’m Natalie McGuire.

I’m a seasoned Designer of 12 years, with an Honors Degree in Graphic Design, 9 years of experience working for design & marketing agencies, in-house design departments, and non-profits, and 4 years of self employment running my own 6-figure design biz.

Has it always been a cake walk
of rainbows, tea parties
and sugar plum fairies?

F***. NO.

I have learned SO much during my own journey,
and can help you avoid some of the gut-wrenching,
nail-biting, blood-pressure spiking nights I’ve suffered
in the name of entrepreneurship.

(Also known as barfing.
Yes, running my business has literally made me barf,
and I want to keep your head out of the toilet bowl.)

I’m ready to share all of my insights with you so you can shorten your learning curve and make your business more profitable, easier to manage, and a hell of a lot more fun.

Ethan Parker Wright

“After 10 years of working as an in-house designer, I finally made the jump to full-time freelancer. I struggled with valuing my services and experience and charging enough. But Natalie helped me create processes around my creative work and setting boundaries with clients. She also taught me how to bring my clients through a process that inspires them and helps them feel a part of the end result. After implementing some of what I’ve learned from Natalie so far, I’ve already received compliments such as, ‘Wow, you’re really professional!’ and ‘You really know what you’re doing!’ I feel confident now in taking my business to the next level. I’m not just a freelancer, but a fancy-pants designer who manages my clients’ projects professionally and they are happier with the process and end result. New designers or seasoned designers who want to boost their business would be lucky to call Natalie their mentor.”

Have some questions?

Who is Designer Mentorship for?

Graphic and web designer freelancers who are stuck in the business side of running their business and need a mentor that can guide them through a gamut of tricky client confrontations, to project management skills, to a better website and portfolio to attract better paying clients.

Who is Designer Mentorship not for?

Anyone who isn’t a practicing graphic designer or web designer. I’m also not teaching the ins and outs of CSS, HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. We’ll only be talking about your freelance business. I will not be teaching you how to be a Designer.

Do you offer any guarantees?

Look, peeps. Business be tricky. So here’s a lawyer-y disclaimer that’s got to be said: There is no promise or representation that you will make a certain amount of money, or any money, or not lose money, as a result of using engagement together. As with any business, your results will vary and will be based on your personal abilities, experience, knowledge, capabilities, level of desire, and an infinite number of variables beyond my control, including variables I (or you) have not anticipated. There are no guarantees concerning the level of success you may experience. Each person’s results will vary. There are unknown risks in any business, particularly with the Internet where advances and changes can happen quickly. The use of my information, products and services should be based on your own due diligence and you agree that we are not liable for your success or failure.

Do you have a cancellation or refund policy?

You’re familiar with the term “time is money”, right? Well, my time is valuable. So, if you book me, then that means others can’t. So, I have to charge in full for that time. Therefore, all sales are final.
